Crosby senior guard Jonathan Rivera had a triple-double earlier this season, but his came in a double-overtime game.
St. Paul junior guard Jamie Leggett erupted for a triple-double on Monday night against Wilby, and he put together his in regulation in an 88-63 victory inside the Rev. Brian Monnerat Gymnasium on Maltby Street. Leggett tallied 40 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in a spectacular performance. Leggett continued his strong start to the season. He recorded 23 points and 14 rebounds in an 81-56 win over Derby on Dec. 29. Leggett scored 15 points in a 57-47 win at Ansonia in the team’s season opener on Dec. 21.
Seniors Mekhi Petteway and Ben Bocchichio also continued strong beginnings to the season. Petteway had 14 points and eight rebounds while Bocchichio added 10 points and six assists. In the Derby win, Bocchichio tallied 18 points while Petteway added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Bocchichio contributed 17 points and four assists in the Ansonia victory.
St. Paul improved to 3-0 while Wilby fell to 4-1. Gio Cruz led the Wildcats with 21 points.
