The Naugatuck Valley League made the tough decision to cancel its fall sports postseason tournaments Monday. Here’s what the league put out in a press release:
Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the health and safety of the NVL student athlete and the uncertainty of being able to successfully play out the NVL divisional tournaments to their completion; effective immediately all NVL tournaments/games have been cancelled. This was a difficult but unanimous decision for the league.
The NVL would like to thank everyone (officials, trainers, coaches, game workers, bus drivers, school administration, the CIAC, and anyone else who hand in supporting our student athletes and their teams) for their efforts and support in making this fall season a reality for our student athletes and giving them the opportunity to compete.
