June 4, 2016: The top-seeded Bristol Eastern baseball team kept up its terrific pitching in a 6-1 win over ninth-seeded East Haven in a Class L quarterfinal round game at Muzzy Field.
Ace left-hander Nate Carney pitched a complete game and yielded a single run on seven hits. He struck out eight and improved to 8-0 on the season.
The offense gave Carney a quick lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. East Haven scored a run in the third inning, but Eastern responded with three of its own to go ahead, 5-1. Zach Marquis and Cory Fradette each tallied triples for the offense.
