Bristol Eastern baseball skipper Mike Giovinazzo hit a career milestone on this date last year. With a 7-1 victory at Plainville, the veteran head coach notched win No. 600 in his illustrious career.
The Lancers won that game against the Blue Devils, then knocked off city rival Bristol Central in their regular season finale to qualify for the state tournament at 8-12. For one night, however, it was about Giovinazzo.
Dylan Woodsome scattered seven hits on the way to a complete-game performance. Carson Sassu had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Eastern offense.
