Bristol Eastern baseball coach Giovinazzo earns 600th career win

Bristol Eastern baseball head coach Mike Giovinazzo has been roaming the sidelines in Bristol since the 1970s, and he reached a career milestone on Friday night in Plainville.

The Lancers beat the Blue Devils 7-1 and gave their long-time skipper his 600th career coaching win in baseball. Dylan Woodsome scattered seven hits in a complete-game effort to take the win. Eastern improved to 7-12 with one game left in the regular season (an overdue thank you to Mike Letendre for the record correction!)

Carson Sassu had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Lancers on offense. Anthony Lozier doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in a run while Noah Hickey added a double and single. Nathan Ouellette singled and drove in two runs. James Dauphinee doubled and Jack Kozikowski added a single.

It has been a tough season for Eastern, which lost 11 straight games after starting 5-0. The Lancers were able to enjoy a win on Friday night, and they celebrated their leader’s milestone.
