The year 2020 has already had its fair share of craziness with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today, which is May 9 by the way, it just happened to snow here in Wolcott. That’s right, it snowed in Wolcott on May 9. Throw in some strong wind gusts with those snowflakes, and it looked more like Feb. 9 instead of May 9. That’s just the way 2020 is going right now.
For a more pleasant May 9, I’ll go back to 2018. Farmingbury Hills Golf Course hosted the annual Jack Stigberg Memorial Golf Tournament, and the Woodland duo of Josh Hassan and Julian Perino captured the top spot with an even-par 70. The top local team, of which there were several, was Holy Cross. The Crusader duo of Mike Mencio and Vin Graziano turned in a 77 and placed sixth. The best finish for Wolcott was from Matt Romeo and Colin Brandt, who combined for a score of 90 and an 11th place finish.
