Bristol Eastern girls have won eight straight games since 3-4 start

When the Bristol Eastern girls basketball team lost, 46-44, at home to Newington Jan. 3, its record stood at 3-4.

That feels like a long time ago, and indeed it’s been a month. A month is also how long it’s been since the Lancers last lost a game. Eastern has won eight straight games, including a 66-43 victory over Rocky Hill at home on Monday night. Jordan Ouellette led a balanced attack with 21 points. Ciara Collins tallied 19 points, Sage Scarritt added 14 and Avery Arbuckle chipped in 10.

Arbuckle had a huge individual night in a 69-39 win at Plainville on Jan. 27. The senior scored, rebounded and defended her way to a triple-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks, according to a tweet from Bristol Observer writer and Eastern stats guru Michael Letendre. Ouellette and Collins again had big games scoring the basketball. Ouellette tallied a game-high 28 points while Collins contributed 20.

What is crazy about Eastern’s 11-4 record is it could be even better. If some things had gone the Lancers’ way, they could have been 13-1. Eastern lost by two points to East Hartford (49-47 on Dec. 16), New Fairfield (45-43 on Dec. 28) and Newington.

Eastern faces Berlin on Thursday at home at 6:45 p.m. in a CCC showdown. The Redcoats are 14-1 and have won five straight games.
