Sacred Heart softball began the 2019 season with an 8-2 win over Wolcott Tech on Saturday in Torrington.
Sophia Audi gave the Hearts a big effort at the plate and in the circle, according to results reported to The Zone. Audi smacked two doubles, a single and drove in three runs. In the circle, Audi struck out seven and scattered seven hits.
Sacred Heart also got offensive support from Jillian Boland (triple, single, RBI), Taylor Benjamin (double, single, RBI) and Lauren Kiluk (two singles, RBI).
Holy Cross had a tough start to the season with a 13-3 loss to Joel Barlow of Redding. Brandi McIntosh hit a home run for the Crusaders while Allie Brown added two singles.
