No. 3 St. Paul got off to a slow start against No. 11 Bloomfield in a Class S girls basketball state tournament quarterfinal game on Tuesday night.
The Falcons fell behind 6-0, but there was no stopping them once they got going. St. Paul blasted Bloomfield 82-50 to advance to the Class S state semifinal round. The Falcons (24-2) will play No. 7 Trinity Catholic of Stamford on Friday at a time and place to be determined.
Jade Udoh had a monster night with 29 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Janessa Gonzalez scored 25 points, Morgan Kolb went for 13 points, and Liv Heslin added eight points. Kailyn Bielecki was solid on defense for St. Paul, which won its third straight tournament game by 32 or more points.

No. 12 Wolcott boys 69, No. 21 East Hampton 63
The Eagles were able to knock off the Bellringers in their Division IV boys basketball state tournament first round clash at the John Morris Gymnasium.
Elmin Redzepagic tallied a game-high 32 points, including five 3-pointers. Jack Drewry had 14 points, Brian Perzhilla tallied nine points and Christopher Harris added six points. Wolcott plays at No. 5 St. Bernard tonight at 7 o’clock.
No. 11 Crosby 95, No. 22 Brien McMahon (Norwalk) 84
The Bulldogs put up a monster offensive performance in their win over the Senators in a Division II first round game at the Crosby Palace.
Kerwin Prince erupted for 38 points and eight rebounds to lead Crosby. Prince was 16-of-21 from the floor. Tyler Spears scored 19 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to go along with 10 rebounds. Justin Davis added 14 points for the Bulldogs.
Crosby plays at No. 6 New Britain tonight at 7 o’clock.
No. 13 Waterbury Career Academy 44, No. 20 Enfield 39
Lawrence Lazaro came up big for the Spartans in this low-scoring Division II first round game, which was played at Kennedy High School because WCA’s gym doesn’t meet CIAC tournament capacity requirements.
Lazaro scored 16 points and was the lone WCA player in double figures. Marquan Watson and Langstun Racine both had eight points while Jonathan Edwards added seven points.
No. 4 Manchester 89, No. 13 Kennedy 52
The Indians won big over the Eagles and will play the Spartans of WCA tonight at 6 o’clock.
Matt Torres led Kennedy with 16 points while Jay Turner added 10. The Eagles finished the season 8-13, and it was the final game for seniors Torres and Turner.
No. 10 New Milford 65, No. 23 Bristol Central 61 (OT)
The Rams led by nine entering the fourth quarter and were smelling an upset, but the host Green Wave forced overtime and won in the extra session in this Division III first round contest.
Donovan Clingan dropped in a game-high 36 points for Central. Austin Brown scored 12 points for the Rams, who ended the season at 8-13. It was the final game for Central seniors Ryan Rodriguez, Nate Rosa and Royan Buchanan.
No. 13 West Haven 57, No. 20 St. Paul 49
The host Blue Devils had just a little too much for the Falcons in this Division III first round game.
Tyler Garry had 13 points to lead St. Paul. He was joined in double figures by Jack Noli and A.J. Brooks, who each scored 11 points. It was the final game for St. Paul seniors Garry, Donovan Symes, Ryan Sulvester, Christian Peterson, Kevin Ashworth and Joseph Leone.
No. 12 Kaynor Tech 81, No. 21 Derby 67
The Panthers were able to outrun the Red Raiders and move on to the second round in Division V.
Nashua Lovett led three Kaynor players in double figures with 24. Fernando Cerda scored 18 points while Saijon McIntosh added 17 points. The Panthers play No. 5 Valley Regional (Deep River) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
