St. Paul girls earn their first-ever perfect NVL season

St. Paul girls basketball has put together some great regular seasons recently, but none can approach what happened in 2018-19 in the NVL.

When the Falcons defeated the Naugatuck Greyhounds 55-41 on Friday evening at Naugatuck High School, they clinched an 18-0 regular season in the NVL. It’s the first time in program history that St. Paul hasn’t lost a game during its NVL schedule. The Falcons finished the regular season at 18-2.

The tough 1-2 punch of Janessa Gonzalez and Jade Udoh were at it again on Friday. Gonzalez led all scorers with 19 points, one point ahead of the 18 put up by Udoh. Liv Heslin and Morgan Kolb each tallied four points. St. Paul made 3-pointers for the game. Gonzalez knocked down three 3-pointers while Udoh added two. Emma Cretella and Olivia Stump each connected on a 3-pointer for their three points.

The NVL Tournament starts next Saturday at Holy Cross High School.
