Bristol Central girls basketball was having a tough season up until the past three games. In those past three games, the Rams have won twice. The second win came Monday, 62-29 at Bulkeley.
Ashley Watson led Central (3-14) with 16 points. Kayla Beaulieu tallied 13 points, Olivia Darby had 11 points, and Gwen Torreso added nine points. Ella Watson and Lia Roldan each chipped in six points.
The Rams took down Hartford Public 63-46 on Jan. 24 at home for their second win of the season. Central had a loss to Platt in between the two wins, but the Rams are still having the most success they’ve experienced all season.
Tough night for Eastern boys
Bristol Eastern boys basketball couldn’t get its offense going in a 63-37 home loss to New Britain on Monday night. The Lancers fell to 4-11 and will need four wins in their last five games to reach the state tournament.
What hasn’t helped Eastern recently is the absence of senior standout Carter Dziedzic, who went down with an injury during a loss to Avon on Jan. 5. The Lancers have lost nine straight games, including that game against the Falcons. Eastern was 4-2 going into the Avon game.
Dziedzic missed four straight games following the injury against Avon, then played limited minutes in a loss to Farmington on Jan. 22. The Lancers would love to get a healthy Dziedzic back as they try to salvage a state tournament berth.
