Jerome Cunningham signed to Lions active roster

Former Crosby High School standout and Southern Connecticut State University tight end Jerome Cunningham has found a home on another active NFL roster.

The Detroit Lions signed Cunningham to the active roster on Monday. He was previously on the practice roster after being signed during Week 4 of the season. Cunningham originally reached the NFL in 2014 when he was signed by the New York Giants as an unrestricted free agent. He was placed on the practice squad in 2014.

Cunningham played for SCSU from 2009 to 2012 after graduating from Crosby in 2009. He caught 61 passes for 690 yards for the Owls, including 29 receptions, 337 yards and two touchdowns as a senior.

Cunningham started three games for the Giants in 2015 and caught eight passes for 59 yards. In 2016, the Tennessee Titans signed him to the practice squad, where he stayed for two seasons.

In 10 career games, Cunningham has caught eight passes for 59 yards.
