BC wrestling wins two, loses two at SHS Duals

Bristol Central wrestling started Southington’s SHS Duals with two straight losses, but finished with a pair of wins. The Rams ended the day 2-2 and their dual meet record stands at 4-2.

Bristol Central was in Pool D, along with Branford and Lyman Memorial/Windham Tech. Each team wrestled the other two teams in the pool once. The Rams lost 51-24 to Branford and 36-27 to LM/WT.

In the consolation bracket, Bristol Central defeated East Windsor 72-6 and knocked off Amity 44-34. Here’s what happened in each dual matchup:

Branford 51, Bristol Central 24

Will Hamilton (1:02 at 106 pounds), Colton Pelletier (5:17 at 113), Adam Ward (1:40 at 126) and Minsok Lee (3:17 at 285) secured pins for the Rams in the loss to the Hornets. Branford wound up finishing third at the SHS Duals as a team. Leo Kavanaugh (11-13 at 138) and Caleb Buden (4-5 at 170) each lost tough decisions.

LM/WT 36, Bristol Central 27

The Rams trailed 24-12 before rallying back to 27-27 tie against the co-op. Hamilton (1:30) and Pelletier (2:55) recorded pins at 106 and 113. Bristol Central lost by decision at 120 to fall behind 27-24, but Ward won a 9-5 decision at 126 to knot the dual meet at 27-all. A pin a 126 put the Rams down 33-27 going into the final bout at 138.

Jason Feto jumped out to a big lead against LM/WT’s Jackson Archer at 138, but he needed a pin to force a tie in the team score. Anything less would have meant a loss for Bristol Central. Archer rallied and forced a 9-9 tie in the final seconds of the third period. Archer’s takedown in the first sudden victory period gave him an 11-9 decision and the co-op a 36-27 team victory.

Eric Facey won by forfeit at 285.

Bristol Central 72, East Windsor 6

Feto won via pin in 1:30 at 132 for the Rams, who claimed all of their other victories via forfeit. The 220 bout was a double forfeit. The forfeit wins for Bristol Central were Hamilton (106), Pelletier (113), Ian Kreciglowa (120), Ward (126), Karriem Hoe (138), Chris Osuch (145), Andrew Beaucar (152), Caleb Buden (160), Gabriel Buden (182), Jacob Boucher (195) and Eric Facey (285).

Bristol Central 44, Amity 34

Pelletier (1:06 at 113), Kreciglowa (:30 at 120), Ward (1:25 at 126), Beaucar (1:35 at 152) and Caleb Buden (:30 at 160) won via pin for the Rams. Hamilton won by technical fall in 5:10 at 106, Feto claimed a 9-2 decision at 132 and Kavanaugh took a forfeit at 138.
