Siegmann among six inductees for Connecticut chapter of National Wrestling Hall of Fame

Bristol Central coaching legend Dennis Siegmann will be one of six people inducted into the Connecticut chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, according to a press release.

Siegmann will be enshrined on May 4, 2019, at the MGM Hotel at Foxwoods. Siegmann coached Bristol Central wrestling for 23 years and took the Rams to 11 league and two Class L state championships, according to his Bristol Sports Hall of Fame bio. His 1985 team won a mythical State Open title with an amazing six individual champions. Siegmann retired from coaching at Central in 1999.

Siegmann was 348-109-2 in his time at Central. He coached three All-Americans, 11 State Open champions, and more than 20 individual Class L state champions. Siegmann went on to coach junior college wrestling at Labette Community College and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where the teams he was involved with won a combined four national championships in six years.

Siegmann will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for having more than 20 years experience coaching wrestling, according to the press release from the Connecticut chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He will have a permanent plaque in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Okla. Siegmann and his five fellow inductees join a group of 38 already enshrined in the Connecticut chapter. At the ceremony, Siegmann will receive a plaque and jacket to commemorate the occasion.
