It turns out St. Paul’s Tyler Arbuckle wasn’t the only MVP to come out of last Thursday’s Connecticut High School Coaches Association All-Star Festival at Meriden’s Maloney High School.
Another lefty, Sacred Heart’s Isiah Gaiter, put together a triple-double of 31 points, 18 rebounds, 11 assists — plus four blocks and two steals — for Team Pequot in the large-school game against Team Mohegan. Thank you to Sacred Heart alum Freddie Feliciano and assistant coach Jay Seay for the information.
Gaiter was a stat sheet filler in his two seasons as a Heart, so Thurday’s performance came as no surprise. And his effort meant that two local NVL players earned MVP honors on the same night. It was a good night for area basketball.
