Bristol Eastern girls volleyball rallies past Bristol Central

The Bristol Central girls volleyball program hasn’t tasted victory at the varsity level against rival Bristol Eastern since 1993.
Bill Clinton was President of the United States,Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” was the top song on Billboard’s end of the year chart, and the Toronto Blue Jays earned a second straight World Series championship.
The streak nearly ended on Thursday at Bristol Central High School.
Central won sets one and three by scores of 25-21 and 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead over Eastern, which claimed the second set 25-22. The Rams were a set away from making history, but the Lancers would have none of it.
Eastern won the fourth set 25-20, then claimed the fifth 15-10 to steal the match by a score of 3-2. The Lancers were able to overcome an inspired effort from the host Rams and keep their streak alive.
Eastern finished the regular season with a record of 12-7 (12-6 CCC) while Central (12-5 CCC) ended at 13-7. Both await their seeding in the upcoming CCC Tournament.
