St. Paul senior football standout Ben Pryor has made his college choice, and he is staying in-state.
“Excited to announce I am committed to Sacred Heart University!” Pryor wrote in a Twitter post published at 7:11 p.m. Sunday.
Pryor was converted to running back as a senior after the graduation of Eli Parks. All Pryor did was carry the ball 139 times for 1,622 yards and 28 touchdowns in St. Paul’s wishbone attack. He had seven 100-plus yard rushing games in his senior year. Pryor’s biggest game came against Wolcott, when he erupted for 352 yards and seven scores.
Pryor was an All-NVL selection at defensive back, was named All-State in Class S by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association, and he was also Honorable Mention for the 84th New Haven Register All-State Team.
Pryor wrote this at 7 p.m. Sunday: “I’d like to start off by saying thank you to every coach that has invested their time to recruit me, it has been a long and at times stressful process. Playing Division 1 football has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. With that being said at the end of the day I have to go with the school of best fit for me. After discussing with my parents I have decided to commit to play Division 1 football at Sacred Heart University.”
Pryor wrote on Twitter that he had been offered by both the University of Delaware (Dec. 11 post) and Assumption College (Dec. 11 post).
