Both Bristol public schools opened the 2015-16 wrestling season with wins yesterday.
Bristol Central took down East Hartford 51-30 while Bristol Eastern downed South Windsor 46-31. Both meets were at the Bristol schools’ home gyms.
Ram junior Brett Scully was named “Animal” of the meet by his coaches for his efforts against the Hornets. Central makes its annual trip to Plainville Saturday for the Plainville Invitational.
For the Lancers, victories from sophomore Mikey Barrett, freshman Carson Sassu, senior Greg Lozier and sophomore Jordon Champagne were key. Eastern makes a trip to Berlin Saturday for the C.J. McCormick Invitational.
St. Paul dropped its season opener 39-30 to Derby at Derby. Wins for the Falcons came from sophomore Chris Dionne at 160, junior captain Jordan Silva at 170, junior Matt Gray at 220, junior Jeremy Adams at 285 and freshman Adam Ward at 113. St. Paul is also headed to the Plainville Invitational on Saturday.
Holy Cross opens it season tonight at home against Seymour at 6:30.
