It was a tough day overall for the area boys soccer teams. Here’s how it went down:
No. 9 St. Paul 8, No. 24 Aerospace 0: The Falcons hammered their opponents under the home lights in a Class S first round matchup.
St. Paul senior keeper and captain Zach Federowicz added to his school record with his 31st career shutout. The Falcons (12-6-1) advance to play No. 8 Somers, a 9-0 winner over No. 25 Amistad. That match is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. in Somers.
No. 14 Avon 2, No. 19 Bristol Eastern 1: It was a tough loss for the Lancers in their Class L first round tilt in Avon.
Bristol Eastern reportedly had a goal wiped out that would have tied the game at 2-2. Instead, the Lancers headed home after ending their season with a record of 8-6-3. Mitch Roy scored the lone goal for Eastern.
No. 8 Windham Tech 1, No. 25 Kaynor Tech 0: The Panthers made the long trip out to Windham for their Class M first round match, but couldn’t come away with a victory.
Kaynor Tech ends its season with a record of 7-8-2.
No. 27 Conard 4, No. 6 Crosby 0: The Bulldogs were dealt a tough season-ending loss at home against the Chieftains of the Central Connecticut Conference in their Class L first round match.
Crosby’s season ended prematurely, but the Bulldogs still posted a great record of 14-5.
No. 3 Fairfield Prep 5, No. 30 Bristol Central 0: The Rams got a tough draw, along with tough travel arrangements, and came away with a loss in Fairfield in a Class LL first round matchup.
Bristol Central ends it season with a record of 6-9-2.

Quick notes about tomorrow
The Class S second round girls soccer match between No. 13 St. Paul and No. 4 Coventry is scheduled for 4 p.m. The match is being played at Coventry High School.
No. 8 Holy Cross hosts No. 24 Windsor Locks at 2 p.m. at Holy Cross in a Class S second round tilt.
Also playing tomorrow is Wolcott. The No. 10 Eagles host No. 26 Bethel at 2 p.m. in a Class M second round matchup.
