Anna Maria College senior Trai Weaver capped his stellar season with a First Team All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference honor.
The teams were announced last Thursday, and it should be absolutely no surprise that Weaver was on the First Team roster. Weaver finished with 51 receptions for 911 yards and 12 touchdowns, including one of 99 yards. He averaged 17.9 yards per catch in 10 games played. The receptions, yardage and touchdowns were all career highs.
Weaver had three monster games in a row during his senior season. On Oct. 14, he caught eight passes for 177 yards and a touchdown. On Oct. 21, Weaver went for 149 yards and a touchdown on nine receptions. Oct. 28 brought four catches from Weaver for an astounding 210 yards and two touchdowns, including the 99-yarder.
Weaver was a standout for Holy Cross High School.

Lizzy Cretella, Eastern Connecticut State University basketball
This former St. Paul standout made her first two career starts count.
Cretella, a sophomore, had 39 points, 15 rebounds and four steals over the two games ECSU played in the Eastern Connecticut State University Tip-Off Tournament. She sank 15 of her 30 shot attempts from the field.
In a 76-73 loss to New Paltz on Sunday, Cretella put up 20 points, eight rebounds and three steals in an impressive effort.
Cretella played 34 minutes before fouling out of the season opener, a 75-67 loss to Trinity. She had 19 points, seven rebounds and a steal. Cretella has led ECSU in scoring in each of the first two games of the season.
Last season, Cretella played in 28 of 29 games, all off the bench. She averaged 12.8 minutes per game and scored 3.9 points per contest.
Idalis Miranda, Clark University basketball

This former Holy Cross floor general had a great first game of her college career, even though it was a loss for the Cougars.
Miranda started the game, played 33 minutes and tallied 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including 2-of-5 on three-point attempts. She had a impressive assist to turnover ratio of 5:1 (5 assists, 1 turnover) and also added two steals.
Miranda, a Naugatuck native, spurred an 8-0 Clark run in the third quarter with back-to-back 3-pointers.
She also started her second game, a 65-62 win over Becker College. Miranda played 34 minutes in that game and scored 11 points. She did have eight turnovers, but she filled up the stat sheet in other positive ways with four rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Jacob Collins, Eastern Connecticut State University basketball
A former Bristol Central forward, Collins has had a pair of productive games after battling preseason injuries at the beginning of his senior year.
Collins has played in both ECSU games this season and averaged 10 minutes per contest. He is averaging 4.5 points and three rebounds per contest. Collins has made four of his eight shot attempts, including one of two 3-pointers. He also has two assists and a blocked shot.
Collins played in 23 games as a junior.
Victor Sampson, Mitchell College basketball

Sampson, who played for Kennedy, saw his first action of his sophomore season on Saturday at Wesleyan University.
Sampson played 13 minutes, scored five points, pulled down two rebounds, and tallied a steal. He was an impressive 3-of-4 from the foul line in his effort.
The game didn’t go well for Mitchell, which lost 107-64 to Wesleyan in the championship game of the Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament.
Sampson played in eight games as a freshman and averaged 1.4 points per game.
