Bristol Central girls soccer got off to a rough start Thursday when Manchester fleet-footed forward Morgan Smith scored a goal less than three minutes into the first half. The Rams fell behind 2-0 on another Smith goal with 11:08 to play.

Later in the half, Central drew a foul against Manchester and had a free kick near midfield.
Junior Brianna Hamel put a perfect ball into the box, which sophomore Ashley Macdonald redirected in for a goal.
It was a spectacular play on both ends, and it gave the home side some much-needed momentum (see video of the goal below).
The Rams and Indians went back and forth throughout the match. Central, which started four sophomores and a freshman, came back twice and was able to salvage a hard-earned 4-4 draw when Hamel scored in the 80th minute.
Rams head coach Scott Redman has been looking for better effort from his team, and he got it Thursday against Manchester. Central is back on the pitch this evening at Muzzy Field against city rival Bristol Eastern. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.
