Jaekwon Spencer, former Bristol Central standout, is having a terrific season at Nichols College.
Spencer, who is listed as a senior but is playing in his third season as a Bison, has appeared in all 16 games, including 15 starts. He’s averaging 16.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, which ranks his second and first on the team. Spencer is averaging 33.9 minutes per game, which ranks second on the team. He’s shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 35.1 percent from 3-point range, and 78.3 percent at the foul line. Spencer didn’t play during the shortened 2020-2021 season.
Spencer picked a great time score his season-high of 25 points. The 6-foot-5, 185-pound forward helped the Bison rally from a 19-point deficit to beat the Bantams, 85-82 in overtime, at home. Spencer also had four rebounds, a block and a steal in 38 minutes. He had four points in overtime, including a 3-pointer that gave Nichols an 80-75 lead with 2:47 left. Spencer has scored 20 or more points in five games this season.
The Bison host Gordon College tonight at 7 o’clock is a game that is a makeup from Jan. 15.
