The Bristol Eastern softball team didn’t have a great day in its season opener against Berlin at Sage Park on April 10.
The Lancers lost, 11-1, to the Redcoats on that day.
Eastern had a much better day Wednesday at home against Southington. The Lancers bounced back in big fashion with a 3-1 victory over the Blue Knights. Ali Tellier threw a one-hitter and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base to lead Eastern. Alec Shorette’s two-run single in the fourth inning was the difference in the game. Shorette also ran down fly balls in the outfield alongside Jennifer Black, who made a big catch. The infield defense behind Tellier was solid.
Jasmine Perez went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Janessa Gonzalez doubled.
Bristol Central opens with a bang: The Rams began the season with an 11-0 blasting of Simsbury on Wednesday.
Alex Sciarretto couldn’t have done much better in her debut in the circle for Central. The sophomore tossed a two-hitter, and the Ram defense was strong, led by Janessa Bartell and Sophia Torreso. As for hits, Central picked up plenty throughout its lineup.
