A great week at the plate and in the field earned former Holy Cross standout Elizabeth Lombardo the top honor in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Lombardo was named Player of the Week after six solid games for Salve Regina University. She went 10-for-20 and displayed extra-base power with three doubles, one homer and seven RBI.
Lombardo saved her most clutch effort for a 4-3 win on April 8 against New England College. Salve Regina trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, until Holly Kathios connected for a RBI double with two outs to score Lombardo. Lombardo led off the inning with a double of her own and moved up to third on a grounder. After a strikeout, Kathios doubled to drive in Lombardo.
The Pilgirms scored twice in the top of the seventh for a 3-1 lead, but Lombardo erased that advantage with a two-out, two-run double. Lombardo’s hit to left field brought home Francesca Galeazzi and Lindsay DelGrego. When Amanda Riley doubled, Lombardo ran home with the winning run. In the second game of the New England College doubleheader, a 3-2 loss, Lombardo hit a solo home run.
On defense, Lombardo was perfect. The infielder had 14 chances and didn’t make a single error. She had three total chances in both games of the New England doubleheader and finished with three putouts and three assists.
In 20 games, Lombardo is hitting .409 with a homer, nine doubles, a triple, 18 RBI and four stolen bases. On defense, she has a .938 fielding percentage with 44 assists and 16 putouts.

Kylie Rice, Emmanuel College lacrosse
The sophomore and former Holy Cross standout made her way onto the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll after a strong performance.
Rice did so because of one monster game against Albertus Magnus College, a 17-6 win on April 3 at home. The midfielder had a career-high nine points with six goals and three assists. Rice was part of a key nine-goal stretch that turned a 2-2 tie into a wide lead. She had two goals and two assists during the run, which put the Saints ahead 11-2 at halftime. Rice finished the first half with two goals and three assists.
In the second half, Rice scored four of Emmanuel’s six goals. She wound up scoring her six goals on just seven shots.
In nine games, Rice has a team-high 16 goals, is tied for second in total points with 23, and is third in assists with seven. Her 34 draw controls are first, and she is third in groundballs with 19.
Gianna D’Amato, Central Connecticut State University track and field

The sophomore and former Bristol Eastern multi-sport athlete was the top performer in her event in a meet at Yale on April 7.
D’Amato won the javelin with a throw of 38.91 meters, or 127 feet, 8 inches, at the Mark Young Invitational. Her best throw was her first one of the day, and it was good enough to beat the competition.
On March 31, D’Amato obliterated her own personal record of 33.62 meters with a throw of 40.76 meters (133 feet, 9 inches). That was good enough for a tie for second place in the Bryant University Black & Gold Invitational.
D’Amato certainly knows a thing or two about throwing a javelin. All she did while at Bristol Eastern was win the javelin in the CCC South and Class S, and get named All-State. She was All-CCC South as a junior and a senior.

Jill Kilmer, Sacred Heart University track and field
At that same Mark Young Invitational, the Pioneer sophomore and former multi-sport St. Paul athlete put together a strong performance.
Kilmer recorded her personal best in the long jump with a leap of 5.25 meters or 17 feet, 2.75 inches. Her effort put her into fourth place overall in the Northeast Conference.
Kilmer is seventh in the NEC in the high jump after a leap of 1.50 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) at the Mark Young Invitational.
Kilmer’s leap in the long jump at Mark Young beat her previous personal best, which came on March 31 at a five-team meet at Rider University in New Jersey. Kilmer put up an effort of 5.15 meters in the long jump in that meet.
Conor Brennan, Lyndon State College lacrosse

It has been a struggle for the St. Paul graduate and his Hornets, but they finally got back in the win column.
After a six-game losing streak, Lyndon broke through with two straight wins, and Brennan played a part in both. Brennan had a goal apiece in 20-3 and 13-7 wins over Green Mountain College and Albertus Magnus College on April 7 and 9.
Brennan has played in nine games, including two starts, and has six goals, which is fifth on the team. The midfielder is sixth in points with eight.
Brennan is majoring in Music Business Industry.
