Bristol Eastern and Bristol Central met on the varsity pitch and volleyball court in three separate matchups this week, and there was only one winner.
The Lancers and Rams played to a pair of 1-1 ties on Monday night at Bristol Eastern High School. It took until Wednesday’s girls volleyball showdown for a winner to emerge.
Here’s what happened in each BE-BC matchup:
Boys soccer
The first soccer game of the night at BEHS was a battle between the boys, and it ended in a 1-1 tie.
Jake Woznicki scored the goal for Eastern while Brandon Holland had the equalizer for Central. Keepers Nate DiLoreto of the Lancers and Danny Gaudoin of the Rams had outstanding performances in goal for their sides. The records for Eastern and Central after the game were 4-2-1 and 2-2-2.
Girls soccer
The nightcap was another battle and another 1-1 tie.
Adalia Malick put Central ahead in the second half, but Ciara Collins had the answer for Eastern. Keepers Lia Hintz of the Rams and Riley Giblin of the Lancers each did their part to keep the game tied after that. The records for Central and Eastern after the game were 1-4-1 and 0-3-2.
Girls volleyball
Bristol Eastern traveled to Bristol Central for a showdown between two of the CCC’s better teams, and the Lancers emerged with a 3-0 victory over the homestanding Rams. The set scores were 25-18, 25-14 and 26-24. Eastern left Bristol Central High School with the outright lead in the CCC South Region’s Patriot Division and an 8-1 record overall. Central dropped to 8-2 overall.
Zoe Lowe and Ali Rivoira were key to the success of the Lancers on this night. Peyton Greger led the way for the Rams.
