The Overlook Blacksox are the host of this year’s Mickey Mantle World Series, which returns to Waterbury’s Municipal Stadium, Bristol’s Muzzy Field and Torrington’s Fuessenich Park.
The games will be played locally, and Overlook has plenty of local talent. Holy Cross players Zach Lerner, Johnny Greene, Connor Goggin, Austin Brown and Brian Parzyck are on the roster. There’s Hector Alejandro from Sacred Heart, Alec Calabro from Wolcott and Bryant Bonilla from Wilby.
Overlook also has Dan Manente from 2018 Class M state champion Seymour, along with Colby Linnell from Woodland Regional. Those two players are very familiar to local NVL fans.
Overlook’s roster also has James Parker and Evan Kachur from Nonnewaug, Drew Colavecchio from Thomaston, Caleb Shpur from Housatonic, all Berkshire League players. Aeden Finateri (Avon Old Farms), Mike Kozlowski (Cheshire), Chase Amador (The Gunnery), Max Gross (Hamden) and Clark Gilmore (Joel Barlow) round out the roster.
The head coach is Gabe Amador, and his assistants are Mike Brown, Fran Calabro and Jim Parker, Sr.
Overlook is scheduled to play its first game today against the Midland Tomahawks () at 4:30 p.m. at Municipal Stadium. That is weather permitting, and there’s an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms for Waterbury, according to The Weather Channel.

The CT Edge Baseball Academy has locals Jack Drewry from Wolcott, Julian Thayer from St. Paul, Ernest McClary from Sacred Heart, and Joe Bonvicini from Holy Cross.
There’s also Steven Philips (Watertown), plus Dante DiRubba and Mike Troiani (Woodland) from the NVL. Southington has a major influence on the team with Brendan Kavanagh, Jacob DelMonte, Jake Neuman, Jack Meade, Bryce Worth, Andrew Paradis and Hunter Salvatore. Rounding out the roster are Jake Boucher (Cheshire Academy), Nate Furino and Nick Furino (East Haven), Trystan Levesque (East Lyme), Austin Doyle (Hand-Madison), Robert Zirlis of Morgan-Clinton and Jack Clancy of Platt-Meriden.
CT Edge is scheduled to play its first game today against D-BAT Elite from North Dallas, Texas at noon at Fuessenich Park. There’s a 100 percent chance of thunderstorms in Torrington, according to The Weather Channel.
