LEGION NOTES: Bristol and Waterbury Seniors, Wolcott Juniors eliminated from state tourney

The Bristol Post 2 and Waterbury Post 1 Senior American Legion baseball teams have been eliminated from state tournament competition. The same goes for the Wolcott Post 165 Junior Legion squad.

Bristol needed one win over RCP Post 105 to advance from Pod D, but lost on Thursday and Friday at Tunxis Mead Park in Farmington. Only one game was played Thursday due to rain.

Post 2 lost 5-0 to RCP on Thursday, then fell 4-0 on Friday. Anthony Lozier and Stephen Warkoski each had two hits in the Thursday loss, and Bristol totaled seven. Post 2 was held to just a Cory Fradette single in Friday’s defeat.

Bristol finished with an overall record of 20-7-1. Post 2 beat Waterford and RCP for their two wins in Pod D play.

Waterbury just couldn’t get past Cheshire in Pod E play, losing 10-0 for the second time in as many games against Zone 3’s top outfit. Post 1 had just one hit in the loss on Thursday, which eliminated them from the state tournament.

Waterbury finished with an overall record of 17-11. Post 1 earned two wins over Wilton in Pod E play.

Wolcott had to wait until Thursday to play its Pod F elimination game against Trumbull. The teams met at Trumbull High School, and Post 165 was eliminated in a 1-0 loss.
