For the second time in as many days, the Bristol Post 2 Senior Legion baseball team earned a walk-off win in the Northern Division “Regional Tournament”.
As a result, Bristol gets some time off before playing for the right to move on to the “Super Regional”. Alec DiLoreto’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Cory Fradette for a 2-1 walk-off win over RCP on Sunday at Muzzy Field. Post 2 had trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, but Fradette (2 hits, 2 runs scored) scored on a Post 105 error to tie the game.
In the seventh, Fradette worked a 3-2 count before reaching on a single. Ryan Greene sacrificed Fradette to second for the second time in the game, and that brought DiLoreto to the plate. On a 1-1 count, DiLoreto delivered the game-winning hit to right field.
Zach Marquis threw 102 pitches in a complete-game effort for Bristol. He allowed a run on six hits, struck out three and walked two. Marquis was helped out by his catcher Dave Bernier, who threw out an RCP runner trying to steal third to end the top of the seventh inning.
Bristol awaits the winner of the loser’s bracket game. RCP is in that game, but Tolland and Waterford have to play their game Monday before Post 105 plays the winner on Tuesday. Post 2 won’t play again until Wednesday.
