Parks (SCSU athletics) |
Eli Parks took it back to his days as a senior standout running back at St. Paul on Saturday.
Parks, now a junior at Southern Connecticut State University, ran wild in the second half of a 45-26 road win over Stonehill College.
Parks had touchdown runs of 45 and 60 in the second half, with one long run coming in each quarter. The 45-yard scoring run from Parks and extra point from Jose Conde put the Owls ahead 31-20, where the score stayed after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, Parks erupted for a 60-yard touchdown run. The junior’s second touchdown of the day, plus another Conde extra point, put SCSU ahead 38-20 with 13:40 left in the game.
Parks finished with 13 carries for a career-high 157 yards and the two touchdowns. He was named Chick fil-A of North Haven/Southern Connecticut State University Athlete of the Week for his efforts.
Parks had 16 yards on nine rushes before erupting on Saturday. SCSU’s next game is Friday night at home against Assumption.

Jordan Gilmore, Western New England soccer
Jordan Gilmore (WNEU) |
Take a gander at the home page for the Golden Bears women’s soccer program, and a former Holy Cross player is the main photo.
That would be Jordan Gilmore, a sophomore at WNEU. Gilmore’s first career college goal helped the Bears claim a 1-0 victory over Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday afternoon.
It’s awesome that Gilmore is back and playing. She started eight games as a freshman, but her season was ended by injury.
Gilmore is back and her goal came in the 42nd minute. She was able to put some loose change into the goal after the goalkeeper couldn’t corral the ball. WNEU made Gilmore’s goal hold up and the Bears went on to win.
Gilmore is one of three — that’s right, three — Gilmore’s on the team. They are both Gilmore’s sisters. There’s sophomore Taylor and freshman Hayley.
On Tuesday, it was Jordan Gilmore who came up with the goal WNEU needed.
