Friday night will mark the first time a Bristol Central varsity football team has played on the new turf field at Bristol Central High School.
The Rams host perennial Central Connecticut Conference power Windsor at 6 p.m., under the lights. Both teams will enter the game at 1-0. Central downed Hartford Public 26-6 while Windsor dispatched Maloney 28-0.
Recent history hasn’t been kind to the Rams when it comes to Friday’s opponent. Windsor bludgeoned Central 47-0 in Windsor last year. The two teams have played each other every season since 2011, including that year, and the Warriors have beaten the Rams every time, sometimes in blowout fashion.
Central hopes to reverse its fortunes Friday, and the home crowd will likely do its part to fire the Rams up.
“FIRST BC HOME FOOTBALL GAME of the season FRIDAY @ 6 PM under the lights AT CENTRAL!!” read a Twitter post from @BCHSco2018, then BCHS Class of 2018. “Don’t forget to WEAR MAROON!!”
The Rams would love to keep their potent running game going. Dathan Hickey ran wild against Hartford Public and had some help from Darrell Payton. Hickey was also able to throw the ball, and that will be important against Windsor.
