St. Paul baseball took care of business on the road at French Park on Monday afternoon, and earned a regular season crown.
The Falcons beat Seymour 4-1 to complete a season sweep of the Wildcats, and they wrapped up the NVL Copper Division title with the victory. St. Paul improved to 14-2, the best 16-game start in over 20 years, and an even better clip than the state championship team of 2016.
Ethan Rembish was terrific on the mound for the Falcons. He pitched six innings, gave up one run on six hits, and struck out seven. Julian Thayer struck out two in the seventh and earned the save.
On offense, Ryan Parent had a big day. He went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Nick Morrell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Parent’s RBI single in the top of the first put St. Paul ahead 1-0. Shaun Remillard’s sacrifice fly in the second put the Falcons up 2-0.
A two-out rally in the fourth began with Morrell, who singled. Thayer doubled, and Seymour chose to intentionally walk slugger Ryan Greene for the second time in the game. Parent again hurt the Wildcats, this time with a two-run double that doubled St. Paul’s lead to 4-0.
Seymour got a run back in the sixth on Zach Edwards’ solo homer, but that was all Rembish and Thayer would allow.
On Wednesday, St. Paul hosts Wolcott in a battle of top division teams. The Falcons own the Copper crown, and the Eagles will be looking to wrap up the Iron Division over the next two weeks.
