A post from the Hofstra University men’s soccer Instagram account said it all about former Bristol Eastern All-American Jake Woznicki.
“𝘾𝘼𝘼 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙨➡️𝙈𝙇𝙎 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙨,” read the post from Dec. 21. “Jacob Woznicki is headed to Cali after being selected by the @mls champion @lagalaxy in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft (60th Overall)❗#Hofstra | #PrideOfLI”
The CAA is the Colonial Athletic Association, and MLS is of course Major League Soccer. Yup, Woznicki got drafted by an MLS team, and not just any one, but the defending champions no less. Woznicki was selected by the Galaxy on Dec. 20.
The congratulations rolled in from all over the place.
“Congratulations to Former AJAX Player Jake Woznicki on Being Drafted by LA Galaxy in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft! ⚽🎉,” read a Facebook post from AJAX Premier, an AAU team run by Leszek Wrona. “Jake’s journey with AJAX Premier began at just 8 years old, and over the years, his dedication to growth and his development as a player have been at the core of his success. Being selected as the 60th pick in the 2nd round of the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by LA Galaxy is a proud moment not only for Jake but for the entire AJAX Premier community.”
“Congratulations to former Lancer Jake Woznicki on his selection by the LA Galaxy in the MLS draft!” read another Facebook post from John Stavens, who was the athletic coordinator at Eastern when Woznicki played there. “So happy for you and that all of your hard work paid off.”
“Congratulations Jake! An amazing person and player who continues to shine and impress. Making us all proud. #GoHill” read another Facebook post from the Stonehill College men’s soccer team.
Woznicki started his college career at Stonehill before transferring to Hofstra. He graduated from Stonehill in 2024, then was a graduate student at Hofstra this past fall. His accolades were as follows: First Team United Soccer Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region; First Team All-CAA; and All-CAA Championship Team member. Woznicki tied for the team league in points with 23 after tallying nine goals and five assists. He tied for third in the CAA in goals, tied for fourth in points and tied for 10th in assists.
The Galaxy knocked off the New York Red Bulls, 2-1, on Dec. 7 for their sixth MLS championship.
