After going 2-4 to start the 2024 season, Anna Maria College football won its final two games of the regular season.
The AMCATS finished 4-4 with home wins over Alfred State on Oct. 26 (35-23) and Dean College on Saturday (63-0). Anna Maria will play in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference championship game against Alfred State on Nov. 16 at noon at Carparso Field. The championship game will be the last for Steve Croce as head coach. Croce, who has been the top man for the last three years and previously coached at both Holy Cross High School and Post University. Another familiar face, Tanner Kingsley, will be the next head coach for Anna Maria. He has been the associate head coach and offensive coordinator under Croce. Kingsley played for Croce, who was previously the offensive coordinator for the AMCATS. Before Anna Maria, Kingsley was a star quarterback at Woodland.
The AMCATS have been a landing spot for some local Connecticut talent over the years, and that continues with this year’s roster. Sophomore Treshawn Blair (Bristol Central) ran for 50 yards on five attempts and scored on a four-yard run in the second quarter to help Anna Maria build a 28-0 lead. Blair has played in four games and has tallied 94 yards on 20 attempts, including a long of 35.
It was Senior Day for the AMCATS, and that included captain and graduate student Tyler Bulinski (Woodland, Beacon Falls). Bulinski is a tight end for Anna Maria.
Sophomore Nathan Cook (Woodland, Beacon Falls) has played in five games and has 17 total tackles (9 solo, 8 assisted). Freshman Jayvion Watts (Kennedy, Waterbury) has played in three games and has three total tackles (2 solo, 1 assisted). Fellow freshmen Matthew Petta (Woodland, Prospect) and Dezmond Foster (Kennedy, Waterbury) have also seen action this season. Petra has played in three games while Foster has appeared in one. Both players are offensive linemen.
