It was Senior Night for the Bristol Eastern soccer programs, and they closed out with a bang by sweeping a doubleheader Monday against city rival Bristol Eastern.
In the first match, the Lancer boys squeaked past the Rams for a 3-2 victory. Luke Winiarski, Mitch Roy and Jared Rokosa all had big games for Eastern. Joshua Cordero and Mike Lemke tallied the goals for Central in defeat while keeper Nick Sassu made some big saves, according to a report from Thomas Liljedahl of The Bristol Press.
It was the final Eastern-Central game for Lancer seniors Roy, Rokosa, Joe Lombardi, Jeremmy Pineda, Greg Lozier, Nick Trottier, Jarred Burgess, Darin Mar, Darit Mar, Thomas Cloutier, Luke Winiarski and Hansje Kountur, according to Eastern’s CIAC roster.
It was the final rivalry match for Ram seniors Sassu, Zachary Aldieri, Isiah Sumler, Jason Sarmiento, Andrew Marcantonio, Jacob Kreciglowa and Mike Gaudoin, according to Central’s CIAC roster.
Both Eastern (8-5-3) and Central (6-8-2) will play in the state tournament. The Lancers play in Class L while the Rams will be in LL.
In the girls match, Eastern scored a 3-0 victory over Central. The Lancers got solid efforts from Gianna D’Amato, Morgan Dauphinee, Myah Croze, Miya Laprise, Mikayla Lewandoski and keeper Karly Martin. Eastern’s seniors are Hannah Grabowski, Samantha Hammer, Cierra Carrillo, Dauphinee, D’Amato, Emily DeNote, Alyssa Dess, Kimberly Edgerly and Calista Subocz, according to the team’s CIAC roster.
Central’s seniors are Ellesse DiNeno, Alia Te, Shaely Porrini, Elise Savino, Nasreen Abbasi and Jennifer Harlow, according to the team’s CIAC roster.
The Lancers (7-8-1) will play in the Class L state tournament. The Rams end their season with a record of 4-11-1.
