The Connecticut High School Coaches Association released its All-State teams, and not surprisingly, several local players made the grade.
GameTimeCT posted all of the teams on its website, and you can view them here.
Bristol Central (Class L) and Wolcott (Class S) had two players apiece selected in their respective classes. Crosby (Class LL) and St. Paul (Class S) each had one player chosen in their classes.
For the Rams, senior Josh Moxam made it as an offensive lineman while senior Noah Cruz appears as a linebacker. Jeff Papazian, their head coach, had this to say on Twitter.
“Big Congrats to Noah Cruz (LB) and Josh Moxam (OL) on being seleted to the 2015 CHSCA Class L All State Team.”
Cruz and Moxam helped lead Central to a second straight 7-3 season under Papazian, who finished his second year as coach. Cruz and Moxam were also members of the All-CCC Division II West squad.
The two Eagles selected were seniors Cole Phelps (OL) and Nate Fillipone (DB). Phelps was part of a solid core of senior offensive linemen who led the way for Wolcott’s rushing attack. Filippone spearheaded that rushing attack, but he also made his name known on defense. Phelps led the Eagles in tackles while Filippone recorded three interceptions. Both were named All-NVL at those same positions.
The lone bulldog was senior Alvin Lopes. Lopes helped lead Crosby to the NVL Brass Division, its first such championship. Lopes was an All-NVL Brass Division selection.
For the Falcons, senior Ben Pryor was the pick. Pryor was a leader on offensive, defense and served as captain. All Pryor did was run for 1,622 yards and 28 touchdowns on 139 carries, his first as a full-time running back with St. Paul. Pryor helped the Falcons achieve a .500 record for the third straight season. Pryor made the All-NVL team as a defensive back.
