The St. Paul boys basketball team opened the 2015-2016 season with a 73-61 win at Oxford.
Mike Ranagan led the Falcons with 19 points, according to the team’s account. Mike Palmieri scored 16 points, Jackson Hines tallied 13, Ben Mazzone had 8, and Austin Jones added 6.
St. Paul girls now 3-0
The Falcons also knocked off Oxford on Wednesday night and improved to 3-0 on the season. Next up for St. Paul is the David T. Rybczyk Memorial Tournament at Plainville High School. The Falcons play Pomperaug at 3 p.m. on Monday.
Holy Cross girls end showdown with knockout punch
The Crusaders hosted Torrington in a battle of 3-0 teams, and they made sure there was no drama in this meeting of NVL rivals.
Holy Cross blasted Torrington 75-33 at The Pit. The Crusaders jumped ahead 24-6 and flew to a 46-14 halftime lead, according to tweets from Rick Wilson of the Republican-American.
Sacred Heart boys also 3-0
The Hearts blew out Watertown 88-58 on the road to get to 3-0.
Mustapha Heron led Sacred Heart with 28 points, according to the Waterbury Republican-American. Raheem Solomon recorded 20 points, Tyrn Flowers put in 19 and Charles Fisher added 14.

The Waterbury Career Academy boys basketball team is 2-0 in their first varsity season after winning their home opener 65-48 over Bullard Havens Tech.
The Spartans will join the St. Paul girls team at the Rybczyk Memorial Tournament. WCA opens play host Plainville on Monday at 7:45 p.m.
