Can anyone in the Naugatuck Valley League beat the Sacred Heart boys basketball team?
With the Hearts (14-2, 14-0 NVL, 5-0 NVL Brass Division), you know what’s coming. Mustapha Heron leads the attack with the versatile Tyrn Flowers on the wing. There’s also Raheem Solomon to deal with, along with Charles Fisher and J.T. Riddick. Head coach Jon Carroll has also gotten some solid minutes from Courie Stevenson off the bench.
After the Crosby win, Sacred Heart lost close games to Foothills Christian of California and Long Island Lutheran of New York in out-of-state tournaments. Since those two setbacks, the Hearts have claimed victories over Naugatuck, Seymour, Oxford, Holy Cross, Kennedy and Torrington during their own six-game winning streak. Sacred Heart loves to get out and run, though like Crosby, it has ways of beating defenses in the half court. The Hearts can clinch the Brass Division title with a victory.
WATR 1320-AM has the radio call on tonight’s game, which you can also get online at their website. The Zone (Rep-Am) is sure to have plenty of coverage as well.
