Bristol Central wrestling has had a great season, but Bristol Eastern quickly asserted itself in their annual tangle on Wednesday night at Bristol Central High School.
The Lancers rolled to a 59-9 victory over the city rival Rams and clinched second place in the CCC South Division behind champion Middletown. Middletown was the only loss for Eastern this season.
Garrett McCarthy started Eastern’s onslaught with a win. Josh Wilson pushed the Lancers to a 10-0 advantage. After a loss, Greg Lozier, Trinidad Gonzalez and Zach Marquis scored pins for a 28-3 lead. Anthony Lozier won by decision to push the advantage to 31-3. Victories by Hidekel Mangual and Jordon Champagne upped the lead to 40-9. Eastern finished the night with wins from Justin Marshall, Noah Corliss, Jack Kachidurian and David Tyminski.
Julian Galindez and Noah Cruz picked up wins for Central.
Eastern finished the regular season with a dual meet record of 15-2 (5-1 CCC South). Central ended up 12-5 (4-2 division).
The CCC Invitational is this weekend at Berlin, but the big tournament is Class L next Friday and Saturday at Bristol Central High School. Look for the Lancers and Rams to put together some good performances there.
