WCA senior goalkeeper Silas Creaven has four clean sheets in his team’s first five matches.
The WCA boys soccer team responded well to adversity with wins in its past two matches, and a big part of that is the player of senior goalkeeper Silas Creaven.
Creaven was recently named the Connecticut Soccer Coaches’ Association Player of the Week after the Spartans went 1-0-1 during the first week of the season. Creaven notched 10 saves in a 2-0 season-opening win over Oxford, then had six in a scoreless draw against Watertown.
WCA lost, 3-1, to Wolcott on Sept. 9, but responded with victories over Kennedy and Derby this past Wednesday and Friday. Creaven made six saves in the 5-0 win over the Eagles, then tallied three more in the 6-0 victory over Derby.
WCA is 3-1-1, and Creaven has posted four clean sheets in those first five matches. The Spartans don’t play again until Friday, when they take on Holy Cross at Alumni Field on Oronoke Road.
