Rembish, Napoletano combine for no-hitter in St. Paul baseball win

The St. Paul baseball team has relied on strong pitching this season, and that continued in a big way on Monday afternoon at DeLand Field in Watertown.

Logan Rembish and Dom Napoletano combined to no-hit the Warriors, 8-0. Rembish and Napoletano allowed two baserunners between them (one walk, one error) and struck out 13. Rembish was perfect through the game’s first three innings.

The game was scoreless through three innings and appeared to be headed that way through at least the top of the fourth, but St. Paul struck with two outs. Coby Degata singled, and Seth Meuer’s grounder was bobbled for an error. Keaton Kroll walked to load the bases, then Mike DeRosa singled home the game’s first run. A two-run single by Brian Anderson made it 3-0. Jay DeRosa struck out on a pitch in the dirt, but managed to beat the throw to first base. Mike DeRosa scored and the Falcons led, 4-0.

Dagata had a sacrifice fly in the fifth to make it 5-0. In the sixth, St. Paul struck for two more runs. Jay DeRosa singled, then Rembish smacked an RBI double. When Cal Chance followed with an RBI single, it was 7-0. A sacrifice fly from pinch hitter Isaac Leon in the seventh scored Kroll with the game’s final run. Kroll had doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Dagata, Chance and Jay DeRosa each had two hits.

The day, however, belonged to St. Paul pitchers Rembish and Napoletano.
