MONDAY’S TOURNEY ROUNDUP: Williams wins State Open title

Sacred Heart track and field sensation Edward Williams has had an awesome sophomore season, and it continued Monday at the State Open.
Williams ran to victory in the 110-meter hurdes in 14.75 seconds. Williams was also sixth in the 300-meter hurdles.
Bristol Central Kaynan Conrod finished third in the 100-meter dash. Crosby senior Jordan Wilkins was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. Bristol Central junior Shy-Ann Whitten placed fifth in the triple jump. Holy Cross junior took seventh in the high jump. Kennedy junior Andriska Mickle finished eighth in the javelin while Bristol Central freshman David Bowes was eighth in the 400-meter dash.

BOYS GOLF
Holy Cross finished third as a team in the Division IV championship held at Crestbrook Park in Watertown. Sacred Heart finished 11th and St. Paul was 14th. The top local finishers were Greg Picard and Mike Mencio, who tied for 16th at 82.
Wolcott finished 19th in the Division III championship held at Timberlin Golf Club in Kensington. Preston Lavoie was the top Eagle in a tie for 54th place with an 89.

SOFTBALL
Holy Cross and St. Paul must wait until Wednesday to play their Class S state semifinal games. The Crusaders and Falcons were rained out. The games are at 4 and 7 p.m. at West Haven High School’s Frank Biondi Softball Field.
