You might be hard-pressed to find a hotter college wide receiver in the Northeast than Waterbury native Deandre Wallace.
The former Holy Cross standout is a senior at Anna Maria College in Massachusetts. Wallace leads the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference in catches, yards and touchdowns. All the 6-foot-5, 205-pound target did his last time out was earn ECFC Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors. That’s what happens when you catch six passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns in your team’s 52-20 victory (Anna Maria beat Dean). His 185 yards were the second-most by an ECFC wide receiver this season. The highest total also belongs to Wallace, who amassed 205 yards against Husson on Sept. 23.
Wallace has caught at least six passes in his past five games, and he averaged a whopping 30.2 yards per catch in the win over Dean. Wallace’s last catch of Saturday’s game produced its most spectacular play. Wallace caught a pass from Ryan Russell and went 94 yards for the game’s final touchdown.
On the season, Wallace has 44 receptions for 808 yards (18.4 per reception) and nine touchdowns. Anna Maria improved to 3-4 with the win over Dean.
