Local Legion 17U players start Legion state tourney Tuesday

The American Legion baseball 17U state tournament begins Tuesday, and there are locals on a few different teams.
The biggest local contingent plays for Bristol (11-8 regular season), the No. 11 seed. Post 2, which has players from Bristol Central, Bristol Eastern, St. Paul and Wolcott, opens against No. 6 Milford at Jonathan Law. Torrington (15-3-2) is the No. 2 seed and has two players from Holy Cross and one from St. Paul on its roster. The P38s host No. 15 Middletown (10-10) at Fuessenich Park.
Naugatuck (19-5) is the No. 3 seed and has two players from Kaynor Tech. Post 17 hosts No. 14 RCP (10-10) at Ray Legenza Baseball Field (Naugatuck HS). Bristol and Naugatuck would play each other in the next round if both teams win.
The Bristol and Torrington games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. while Naugatuck is slated for 6 p.m.
