15: The number of years it had been since a Waterbury public school hoisted a boys’ basketball state championship plaque before WCA claimed the Division III plaque Sunday. Crosby defeated the now-closed Trinity Catholic-Stamford, 82-79, in the 2008 Class LL final at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion on the campus of the University of Connecticut. That was also the last time a state championship game was contested at a venue other than the Mohegan Sun Arena.
