Holy Cross sweeps city cross country meet

The Holy Cross High cross country program swept the annual city championship meet on Friday at Bucks Hill Park.

The Crusader boys won with a score of 17. Kaynor Tech was second with 56, followed by WCA with 62. The Holy Cross girls won with a score of 19. WCA was second with 55 and Kaynor was third with 65.

Holy Cross also won both individual races. Sophomore Jake Ferrare took first place in the boys’ race in 18:37.8. He was followed by teammates Joseph Dane, Kyle Lanese and Ryan DePaulo as the Crusaders swept the top four spots. WCA’s Antonio Casiano was fifth, followed by Kaynor’s Matthew Moody in sixth.

Junior Aurora Miller took first place in the girls’ race in 23:07.0. WCA senior Jessica Coyt was second. Holy Cross claimed the next five spots: Catherine Cruess, Reagan Zupkus, Gina Barry, Shania Howard and Raeanna Byrnes.
