St. Paul baseball caps 20-0 regular season

It wasn’t a true home game, but the St. Paul baseball team treated Waterville Park like its own field during Thursday afternoon’s regular season finale against Watertown.

The Falcons scored six times in the bottom of the first inning and didn’t look back in a 16-1 win in five innings. The game was moved to Waterville Park from St. Paul’s home field. The venue didn’t matter for the Falcons, who romped to the victory and finished the regular season a perfect 20-0.

On offense, Casey Cerruto was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. Steve Morelli (triple, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Devin Kulas (double, 2 runs, RBI) and Cal Chance (run, RBI) all went 2-for-3 while Ryan Daniels (2 runs, 2 RBI) was 2-for-4. Mario Izzo tripled, scored twice and drove in a run.

Brendan Foley was dominant again on the mound for St. Paul. The left-hander struck out 10 over four innings. Foley and Jamie Leggett (1 inning) gave up an unearned run on just two hits. Foley finished the regular season a perfect 8-0.

St. Paul opens the NVL tournament Saturday at home in a quarterfinal round game.
