The Bristol Eastern softball team won its fifth straight game Monday, 17-1 in five innings, at Lewis Mills.
The Lancers improved to 10-7 and are back home Tuesday against Manchester at 3:45 p.m.
D’Amato has been hot at the plate for the Lancers. In the previous game against Plainville, a 12-3 road win on Friday night, D’Amato had two hits, including her third home run of the season. Eastern’s win streak began with a 24-0 blasting of Farmington on May 9. D’Amato tallied three hits and four RBI. One of D’Amato’s hits was her second home run of the season.
Tellier has been terrific of late as well for Eastern. Tellier struck out 13 and threw a five inning perfect game against Farmington on May 9. On May 11, Tellier threw a complete game and whacked a two-run home run in a 6-2 home win over Middletown. In the win over Plainville, Tellier struck out 15 and passed 300 for her career.
Different players have stepped up at the plate and in the field during the win streak. Gracie Browne had two hits against both Middletown and Lewis Mills. Jazzy Brown (2 runs) and Janessa Gonzalez (2 RBI) each had three hits in an 8-2 home win over Pomperaug on May 12. Sam Policki collected four hits against Plainville while Makayla Antunes and Ashley Serafin had two hits apiece against Lewis Mills.
Alex Shorette made a terrific diving catch in the seventh inning of the Middletown win during what has been a strong stretch of defense in the outfield. Shorette also had a big hit to drive in a pair of runs during the Pomperaug victory.
Eastern is scheduled to finish its regular season this week. After Tuesday’s home game against Manchester, the Lancers host Maloney on Wednesday and crosstown rival Bristol Central on Friday with those games scheduled for 3:45 p.m. starts. Central gave Eastern its last loss before the win streak, so the Lancers will have revenge on their minds.
