The Wolcott softball team’s offense showed up early during Monday evening’s home game against WCA at George Babcock Field.
The Eagles struck for eight runs in the first and rolled from there to a 19-0 win in five innings over the Spartans. Abby Wrinn homered, tripled twice and drove in five runs to lead a dominant offensive attack. Juliana Beloin (inside-the-park) and Jordan Chamberlain hit back-to-back home runs in a seven-run third inning. Beloin (double, three RBI) wound up with three hits, as did Jen Antonowicz (two doubles, two RBI). Chamberlain added a double to her home run and drove in three runs. Antonowicz, Wrinn and Beloin each scored three runs while Kaitlynn Ouellette, Lizzie Francisco, Mayci Abou-Arrage, Chamberlain and Lauren Sinclair all scored two runs apiece.
Ouellette pitched all five innings for Wolcott. She struck out nine, walked two, hit one batter and yielded just three hits. Ouellette threw 53 of her 79 pitches for strikes. The Eagles improved to 7-1 and have won four straight games. Wolcott hosts Holy Cross (8-2) on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
Alysha Accetura doubled and singled and Tanisha Torres singled for WCA (3-6). Kaitlyn Basant was hit by a pitch and Trinety Sanchez drew a pair of walks. The Spartans host Torrington on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at Huntingdon Park.
