Cretella earns women’s lacrosse MASCAC player of the week accolades

Former St. Paul standout Emma Cretella was named women’s lacrosse MASCAC player of the week honors after Westfield State University went 2-0 during the past week.

Cretella scored four goals, tallied five assists, added eight draw controls and recorded three groundballs over the two-game span. She scored three of Westfield’s first four goals in a 20-13 win over Framingham State University on April 23, Senior Day for the Owls. Cretella tallied three assists for Westfield in the victory.

Cretella’s three goals helped the Owls jump out to a 4-0 lead. She had single assists in the second, third and fourth periods. Cretella scored her fourth and final goal of the game in the fourth period. She had nine shots during the game, including eight on goal. Cretella had five draw controls and two groundballs.

On April 21, Westfield blasted MCLA, 14-2, on the road. Cretella had two assists, three draw controls and a groundball. She had both of her assists in the first period as the Owls ran out to a 5-1 lead.

Cretella, a Cheshire native, is a junior and is majoring in criminal justice.
