Eastern wrestling rallies past Central

The Bristol Eastern wrestling team saw a 15-point lead disappear against archrival Bristol Central on Wednesday night in the Thomas M. Monahan Gymnasium.

The Rams tallied 16 straight teams points to claim a one-point lead, then the teams traded pins. The Lancers were down a point with two bouts to go (160 pounds and 170), but picked up pins in those bouts to claim a 45-34 win. Eastern finished the regular season at 14-4 (5-1 CCC South) while Central ended at 10-3 (4-2).

Seniors Alex Marshall (160 pounds) and Kaiden Dionne (170) secured the final 12 points for the Lancers. Marshall pinned Jack Jones of the Rams in just 38 seconds to give the home team a 39-34 lead. Dionne and Central sophomore Jayden Colon battled into the third period of their 170 bout. Thirteen seconds into that third period, however, Dionne pinned Colon and secured Eastern’s 45-34 victory.

Here were the winners for both teams in the match, which started at 182 pounds.
